Welcome to the new home of the Spotlight Reading Group. The Reading Group is the oldest-running special program for Spotlight, and has been an integral part of the organization since inception. What is it? This is an evening where we gather to share a pot-luck supper, read a play out loud, and share lots of laughter in the process. And it’s fun!
After dinner and a little social time, we sit down to read the play. A volunteer Director will tell us about the characters and the sizes of the parts, and then we’ll draw names from a hat. Depending on the number of parts/attendees, we may throw the names back into the hat for Act 2 and mix it up further! At intermission, it’s time for dessert. We round out the evening by selecting the next play to read, the date for the reading, and the Director.
Please email us at specialprograms@spotlightplayhouse.org for more information, questions, or to find out how to get on the mailing list for this fun event!

Leon Tolchinsky is ecstatic. He's landed a terrific teaching job in an idyllic Russian hamlet. When he arrives he finds people sweeping dust from the stoops back into their houses and people milking upside down to get more cream. The town has been cursed with Chronic Stupidity for 200 years and Leon's job is to break the curse. No one tells him that if he stays over 24 hours and fails to break the curse, he too becomes Stupid. But, he has fallen in love with a girl so Stupid that she has only recently learned how to sit down.
